Strategy
Our Strategy
Our most vulnerable families have a hard time accessing easy-to-understand information to make good decisions for their kids. The information that is out there is mostly boring, dense, jargon, and/or wonky. And there is a lack of K-16 content that is bite-sized, fun, visual, and informative.
K-16 parent advocacy organizations still largely define community in geographical terms, whereas the world is increasingly gathering in non-geographic communities. The education sector underutilizes social media communications and is not intentional enough about building more expansive online communities for parents. Traditional organizing—an expensive, high-touch approach characterized by inconsistent activity that peaks around elections—is rarely conducted at the kind of scale that can overwhelm traditional special interests in the K-16 industrial complex.
For far too long parents, especially Black, Brown, and Asian, have watched their stories be told by others. Some are told their stories matter but are rarely given the chance to hold the mic or author and shape the story around public education in the United States.
Our Solution
Goodbeat creates an authentic community and amplifies parent voice using social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and builds value for parents in 3 ways:
We used bite-sized, fun, and visual content to help educate fellow parents, turning information into knowledge, and knowledge into action.
We build ongoing, trusting relationships with parent digital creators and their followings, enabling them to connect with other parents and engage around issues of their choosing, not a pre-established policy agenda set by any organization.
We support up-and-coming parent creators through cohort-based social media training programs.
